Practical informationFlorine Demosthène became noticed through collective and solo exhibitions organised in the United States, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Germany and Africa. Now, she lives in both Ghana and New York.
Her work questions the female body and, in particular, the black woman’s body. “I was intrigued by the image of the black woman’s body in contemporary visual culture and stunned by the way its physical portrayal is supposed to dictate a number of ideals and behaviours.”
With Get Azzmatized! she invites us into a world inspired by a series of street shows, where she turns into voluptuous super-heroin, Azzmama.
