Practical information

Composed of about sixty drawings and sculptures, the “Le vivant, passage par le Féminin” (“The Living, through the Feminine”) exhibition at the Fondation Clément is the largest exhibition ever dedicated to Ernest Breleur.

For this occasion, the works presented, which are between breaking away and beginnings compared to previous works, are surprisingly fresh and young.

This solo exhibition whose importance might suggest a retrospective is in fact an unexpected introspection. Dark figure and silent face, Ernest Breleur has a habit of only letting his dark side show. The man and the artist are always discreet.

A sensitive man, undoubtedly devastated by the violence done to the world, he seems, recently, to have inverted the prism through which he sees it. As the bodies dispose of their shells, this exhibition is an opportunity to reveal the man behind the artist. From this passage to light springs life and its frenzy, the female and her exuberance, humour and its lightness.

To the Fondation Clément, were moved the group of volumes, myriad of colours and the experience of the sublime that make the artist’s studio a poetic place. Ernest Breleur, disturbed by the inclusion of his work in time, overwhelmed by questioning, offers us his current work, always in the making and in accordance with its time.
