Practical information

The exhibition “Désir Cannibale” (Cannibalistic desire), on view from July 27 to September 19 at the Clément Foundation, features nine contemporary Guadeloupean artists, all of whom have international artistic careers.

Through a selection of works in painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video and performance, curator Jean-Marc Hunt proposes an exploration of the poetics of drunkenness which takes shape as a fantasy of all things possible.
The title, Cannibalistic desire, describes powerful impulses, desires and fantasies of violence from another time. Here, the dimension of power specifies an ambition that seeks to multiply sensations and new experiences, freed from all rules and all control. The impulse of Cannibalistic desire becomes a state of consciousness, a way of thinking and of framing oneself in relation to the world.
