Practical information

As part of the centennial celebration of the birth of Aimé Césaire, The Fondation Clément – the foundation of the company GBH – in partnership with the Regional Council of Martinique and with the support of the Réunion des musées nationaux-Grand Palais, presents the Aimé Césaire, Lam, Picasso “We found ourselves” exhibition from 8 December 2013 to 16 February 2014 at Habitation Clément.

Aimé Césaire, Lam, Picasso “We found ourselves” immerses us in the wealth of friendly and fruitful encounters between these three men. Centred around writings by Césaire and works by Lam and Picasso, the exhibition brings together paintings, prints, sculptures and many documents that highlight the intellectual and artistic depth of their exchanges. It also evokes the special relationship established with the surrealists and André Breton, as well as their common emotion following an excursion in the heart of the Absalon forest, whose mysterious luxuriance would mark their works to come.
