Writings on earthenware and then, because one of the most important things in Henry’s artistic work is what I call the Writings of Henri Guédon; writings through which he opens indecisive doors, where he brings in the Caribbean mythology that is his own, in order to fulfil the invocations that are his.

In the Writings by Henri Guédon, there is a great lesson that the outstanding Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa summarises thus, “Certainty is a lie”.

Henri Guédon’s great lesson is indeed, “In this dark world, never close the door. Leave the way open and follow the Track(s).”

Henri Guédon was born on 22nd May 1944 in Martinique and died in 2006 in Paris. He lived and worked in Paris from 1964. He took part in many solo and collective exhibitions. He produced monumental  works, murals, installations and sound sculptures in France and abroad.
