Practical informationThe verb “reset” in English has several meanings, ranging from the reinitialization of a computer to the medical procedure used to fix a fractured bone. For Ricardo Ozier-Lafontaine, the word evokes two notions that are intimately linked in his work: origin and healing.
RESET is a cosmogony, a story of the creation of the universe, which allows us both to explain and to regenerate the world. Beginning with automatic drawing and progressing through a sort of artistic trance, the artist carries out a practice that is at once tenacious, meticulous and intuitive. In the process, forgotten memories and intimate feelings emerge, forming a narrative of the struggle between light and darkness, between order and disorder. The disorder of the world perhaps mirrors that of the cosmos, or perhaps that of the artist’s private world.
In either case, through successive series, Ricardo Ozier-Lafontaine highlights the incessant tension between the eruption of chaos and attempts to organize it and give it structure.
